West Lothian Scout Council was set up in 1909 to support the delivery of Scouting to young boys within the original county of Linlithgowshire. Since its conception Scouting in every town within West Lothian has benefited from the support of local business, land owners and individuals.
Scouting today is as active as ever and is still one of the largest Youth organisations in West Lothian second only to our sister organisation the Guides. We currently have a membership in excess of 1000 and deliver our active programme to a diverse mix of young people within every major town within West Lothian.
In 2007 UK Scouting celebrated its centenary. Scouting whilst still based on the fundamentals devised 100 years ago offers challenge and adventure to 400,000 young people and 100,000 adults across the UK. We believe in helping our Members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make life long friends. Scouting would not be able to provide the opportunities we give to young people without the continued support from individuals and businesses who give us both financial support and the offer of goods and services.
